Since 2005 a group of individuals consisting of the then Mayor of Bhubaneswar, Executive Director of City Managers’ Association Orissa and one communication specialist realized the importance of professional institutions in emerging urban management. However, instead of building an institution they continued supporting local governments through various informal forums. In 2009, these individuals with encouragement & inspiration from present Mayor of Bhubaneswar founded Local Governance Network for the purpose of supporting state, national and international government efforts towards local governments.
LGNet is a strategic non-profit initiatives formed to address the changing needs of Local governments by building sustainable network amongst Local Government, Corporate, Academics, Civil Society, Individuals and International Governance |
